The last Imp in Portugal
Joao Manuel Tavares having fun in a Sprint.
Impressions May 1998, "Centre of Attention", and his letter on page 19:
[...] the Estoril circuit has been closed. "Now the only venues we have are airfields and even then, only small parts of them, so the sprints are now very short.
Another problem is that the FIA rules for classics have become almost impossible to follow, so we will try to contest regional classic sprints and rallies instead."
He has converted his Imp back to a single 'performance' Solex. It is impressive all through the rev-range.
He attended the triathlon race on the 21st May 1998. It included indoor karting, a slalom and a regularity test.
27th June 1998 he competed in the second Blue Coast Rally, which he did the first time, too. It is organised by the Triumph Club of Portugal.
